TWO thieves broke into a pawnshop and stole P2.2 million worth of jewelry in Barangay Poblacion, Danao City, over the weekend.
The burglary was discovered on Monday morning, June 26, by Francia Castro, employee of Montaña Pawnshop located at Rizal St.
Police Officer Officer 1 (PO1) Gerome Pesidas, in a phone interview, said the jewelry were made of gold and a team is pursuing the suspects.
He said investigators, led by PO3 Roselo Campo, identified one of the suspects as Marvin Tawanga, who along with his unidentified cohort, also stole P50,000 worth of phone watches and cash amounting to P2,431 from the vault.
Tawanga reportedly rented the room of a pension house beside the pawnshop.
Authorities said the suspects possibly used an electric driller in destroying the walls of the room and pawnshop.
They also used the driller in destroying the vault, said police. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
