THE Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod City approved the P8.689 million budget for the city’s representative of the 2017 Palarong Negros Island Region scheduled February 24 to March 1 in Dumaguete City.
Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairman of committee on finance and appropriation, said the amount came from the Special Education Fund.
“As a support to the hundreds of student-athletes who aim to garner more gold medals for the Division of Bacolod, the SP approved this resolution upon the request of Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Schools Superintendent Demavivas,” Distrito added.
The budget is allocated for the contingent's uniforms, transportation, athletes and coaching staff allowances, accommodation, equipment, and other essential needs.
This is the first time for the Schools Division of Bacolod to send a contingent to the event.
Division Sports Officer Eden Ariola said Bacolod City will deploy 836 delegates composed of 636 athletes and 200 officials.
Headed by Division Superintendent Cynthia Demavivas, the delegation will also include Assistant Head of Delegation Mitchell Acuyong and Ervie Imelda Gallespen.
