THE proposed P94-million lighting projects to prevent traffic accidents in Bacolod City are a go.

The City Council approved the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the city government and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) during its regular session Wednesday.

Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairman of City Council committee on laws, said yesterday the lighting projects will be implemented in various areas including Lacson Street towards Circumferential flyover-Bacolod North Road; Bacolod South Road from Gonzaga Street going to Barangay Sum-ag (Bago boundary); Lizares Avenue going to Talisay boundary; and along Circumferential Road north and south.

Distrito said the installation of street lights will be undertaken by the DPWH-Bacolod while the city government is responsible of securing and maintaining the units.

He said he preferred to use the light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs so they can save power. (MAP)
