THE Progressive Alliance of Capitol Employees (Pace) said the Capitol employees are still hoping to receive an additional bonus before the year ends.
Renelo Lastierre, vice president and spokesperson of the Pace, said the employees are always expecting an extra bonus as a legacy of the late governor Joseph Marañon carried over during the administration of his brother, Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr.
“It is a legacy that we and our families are expecting every Christmas time. These incentives for our services is a form of a reward for our service to the public which has resulted to the provincial government receiving many awards like the Seal of Good Housekeeping,” he added.
In 2015, Capitol employees and officials received P35,000 each in additional bonus.
Lastierre said that since “local government units are empowered to determine and legislate benefits for its employees,” they are optimistic that the Provincial Board under Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson will also be supportive of the benefits for employees.
Earlier, Second District Board Member Salvador Escalante, chairman of finance, budget, appropriation, and ways and means, said the governor is still waiting for an announcement from Malacanang as legal basis to release additional bonuses.
He had also confirmed that the Provincial Government has the money to finance the additional bonuses for employees this year.
“We believe that our provincial officials will find a way to remember us, the employees as the backbone of the administration,” Lastierre said.
He added that they have received reports from employees unions in other local government units that they have already received extra bonuses.
“Their officials have found a way in whatever form to justify its release,” Lastierre said.
