CONSUMER group Power Watch Negros will seek the assistance of the Office of the President and the Department of Energy to hold in abeyance the collection of P232-million charges of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) to be paid to Kepco-Salcon Power Corporation (KSPC).
Wennie Sancho, secretary-general of Power Watch, in a press conference yesterday said they will also launched a signature campaign for the consumers to indicate their respective account numbers with Ceneco for the validity of their petition.
Sancho said that Ceneco’s move to hold the collection of P.0817 per kilowatt hour this month is just a temporary relief.
He added that the order of Energy Regulatory Commission granting the authority for Ceneco and KSPC to collect the amount of P232 million as unnominated contract quantities is unconscionable because it is a payment for power supply which was not delivered by KSPC and unaccepted by Ceneco but charged to the member-consumers.
