MALACAÑANG said Sunday the enforcement of the nationwide smoking ban is a realization of the dream of a tobacco-free future.
Executive Order No. 26, which the President Rodrigo Duterte signed on May 16, takes effect Sunday.
"This Executive Order is another milestone where the government gives priority to the right to protect public health. The implementation of this EO is a realization of our dream of a tobacco-free future," said Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella in a statement.
He urged the public to give their full cooperation and support to the smoke-free establishments in public and enclosed places.
According to Health Secretary Paulyn Jean Ubial, the local government units should create a task force to implement the smoking ban. (SDR/VoxPop Philippines)
