PALARONG Pambansa 2016 athletics gold medalist Mea GeyNiñura is expected to join the fifth leg of the free registration 2016-2017 Smart Blue Knights Track League Season 3-PSC Weekly Relays on January 21 at the Ateneo de Davao University (AdDu) Fr. Martinez Sports Complex track oval in Matina, Davao City.

League tournament director Airnel Abarra, who guested at the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held at the NCCC Mall Food Cove Function Hall on January 5, said the Kapatagan National High School athletics team, where Niñura is a part of, may see action again.

Teams from Basilan and Maguindanao, according to him, also expressed interest in joining the only regular athletics event in Mindanao.

"We hope to cover the whole Mindanao," Abarra said, noting a drastic increase of participants from the past two seasons.

Abarra expects around 150 participants to join including regular entries from Region 12.

He also said that they are going to base the most valuable player (MVP) award to participants who attend from the very first leg of the third season.

Abarra assured that the trackfest will complement existing programs like the Davao City Athletic Association (DCAA) Meet, Davraa Meet and Palarong Pambansa and will not hold legs in dates that will coincide with these three annual competitions.

Categories entered are men and women seniors (17 above), boys and girls youth (13-16), boys and girls kids (11-12).
