THE Bacolod City Government distributed a total of P325,000 in financial incentives to Bacoleño athletes who won medals in the recent 2017 Palarong Pambansa held in San Jose, Antique.
The distribution was led by Mayor Evelio Leonardia and City Schools Division Superintendent Cynthia Demavivas at the Bacolod Government Center Thursday, May 25.
Each athlete received P5,000 for gold medal; P3,000, silver, and P2,000, bronze.
Negros Island Region was ranked fourth place. Bacolod City has the biggest number of delegation with a total of 377 athletes and 20 officials.
Bacolod won a total of nine gold, eight silver, and 18 bronze medals for individual events; and 14 golds, 30 silvers, and 17 bronzes in team events.
The three winning coaches in team events each also received P4,000.
Leonardia said he is thankful to the athletes and coaches for giving honor to the region.
“We may not have the quantity but we have the quality, and that is represented by all of you here,” the mayor said. (MAP)
