CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Pampanga Police Provincial Director Joel Consulta has ordered his personnel to "observe and respect human rights" in all of their operations.
Consulta made the statement during the 116th Police Service Anniversary celebration on Thursday, August 31, amid the controversies hounding the Philippine National Police, including the controversial death of 17-year-old Kian Loyd Delos Santos which created public outrage.
Consulta said that he always reminds his personnel to always protect people and respect their rights in every operations.
“Kahit nakaviolate sila ng batas ang mga hinuhuli natin, tao pa din sila at kailangan natin respetuhin ang karapatang pantao nila,” Consulta told police officers.
He added that the provincial police office continue to conduct information dissemination among its personnel to avoid violations, especially on human rights.
Consulta reminded police officers to follow the right procedure to avoid having "collateral damages."
“Dapat legitimate lahat. Sundin ang right procedures, hindi ‘yung para makaaccomplish lang ng mission, magkocommit ng irregularities,” he said.
