SAN LUIS -- The local government and Philippine National Police are intensifying the implementation of the anti-muffler ordinance around the municipality.
Mayor Venancio “Asyong” Macapagal ordered the local police force to strictly enact the law entitled Anti-Muffler Modificator Ordinance of 2014.
The said ordinance prohibits the use of public and private motorcycles and vehicles equipped with modified mufflers.
Macapagal said that modified mufflers cause loud and unnecessary noise, disturbance and distraction to the public, especially in schools and churches.
He added that the same motorcycles and vehicles are the usual subjects of road accidents caused by over-speeding.
The local chief executive said that an Oplan Baklas-Butso will soon be conducted to apprehend all violators and confiscate the said loud mufflers.
A fine of P300 for first offense, P500 for second offense and P1,000 for third offense will be collected from violators once apprehended.
