Pampanga University ROTC unit champs again

MAGALANG -- It was a back-to-back win for the Pampanga State Agricultural University (PSAU) Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) unit as it won the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) for school year 2016 to 2017, toppling 13 other schools in the region.

The awarding which took place at PSAU’s Audio-Visual Center on April 19 was graced by General Angelito De Leon, commander of the Philippine Army’s 71st Infantry Division, who represented Lieutenant General Glorioso Miranda, commanding general of the Philippine Army.

Aside from the title as champion, the said unit bested other contenders in the following events: tactical NCO reservist method of instruction, assistant commandant’s briefing, cadet organization or attendance, school support, theoretical exam in ms 1 and 2, mode of advance cadet ms 32, opord writing, and assembly and disassembly of cal. 5.56 mm M16 rifle.

The unit also placed first runner-up in Theoretical Exam MS 41 and 42, and Military Courtesy and Discipline. It ranked second runner-up in Platoon Drill, and Exam on Map Reading.

Key personnel of the unit were recognized as well: Joel Maliwat as Best National Service Training Program (NSTP) Director, Major Rogelio Isip as Best ROTC coordinator, Sergeant Joemar Martirez as Best ROTC Chief Clerk, Corps Commander Cadet Colonel Ronalyn Dueñas as Best ROTC Cadet, and Sergeant. Deanne Lyka Morisette Camaligan as one of the Best Reservist Instructors.

The RAATI is annually held by headquarters to determine the existing condition of ROTC units, and evaluate the degree and quality of training attained by the ROTC of cadets. This year’s inspection ran from February 21 to March 24 headed by Colonel Kingsly Dupitas, the Acting Brigade Commander of the 1603rd Ready Reserve Brigade.

Runners-up to the PSAU ROTC unit were the units from Tarlac Agricultural University and Central Luzon State University. (Dexter Andrew O. Manalo)
