Pangan: Dole's linkages

Published on

AMONG Department of Labor and Employment's (Dole) initiatives is making a tie-up arrangement with Linkedin to address the problems of job-skill mismatch.

Linkedin is one of the top business and employment–oriented social networking sites worldwide tapped to address job-skills mismatch in the country by effectively connecting skills with the right job opportunities.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III revealed that: the Philippine Skills Report of Linkedin bares the list of in-demand jobs and top skills of around four million of Filipino members in its roster. The report allows companies to fill their hiring needs and for the job seekers to find right opportunities for their skills and expertise.

So, Dole is working closely with partner agencies and organizations, Linkedin included, to address the job-skills mismatch problems in the country.

Linkedin cited the Top 10 industries from where its Filipino members are identified with: information and technology, business process outsourcing, education, banking and financial services, telecommunications, real estate, healthcare, computer software, oil and gas and manufacturing.

From the above list, it can be gleaned that there are many job opportunities available to Filipino workers. The only problem is job-skills mismatch and this is what the Dole continuously addresses.

The Dole has found an appropriate partner in Linkedin where job opportunities can be easily accessed by Filipino job seekers.
