PLDT SME Nation, the small and medium enterprises arm of PLDT, eyes to partner with private and public schools in Davao Region with its new product solutions, the Smart Digital Campus.
"We want to partner with as many as possible schools, in all levels, in both public and private, we make to make this program as pervasive as possible," Corrine Zablan, assistant vice president (AVP) and head for Channel Sales of PLDT SME Nation, said in a press conference at the Seda Abreeza-Ayala Hotel in Davao City Wednesday, October 12.
Zablan said the company has not come up with specific number of schools they will partner with but they already held talks with some schools in the region.
Omni Amisola-Larrosa, product head for Smart Business Solutions said the Smart Digital Campus, which was made available this October is specifically built for educational institutions.
"This is PLDT's newest suite of wireless solutions redefining the learning experience for students, teachers, and even parents with the most advanced digital platforms and Internet connectivity available today," she said during the Davao launching Wednesday.
The new product, she said, provides an affordable package equipped with monitoring and e-learning systems. These are the Smart Gatekeeper, Smart Tracker, and Smart E-Learning.
Larrosa said these three monitoring and e-learning platforms "assure parents and teachers that students’ activities are secured and made more efficient from the moment they step in the campus until they get home."
Smart Gatekeeper, she said, is an automated attendance monitoring solution that monitors students' entry and exit in real-time.
It also enhances student safety by "automatically updating the parents via SMS whenever the student enters or leaves the school premises."
Complementing this is an all-in-one solution designed for 24/7 tracking of all school transportation vehicles called Smart Tracker.
"The tracker, which utilizes GPS technology, enables schools to monitor the location of their school buses in real time," the Smart Digital Campus primer read.
Furthermore, Smart E-Learning "is a fully digitized and integrated learning management platform. The mobile app is equipped with social, gamification features that make teachers and students more engaged in learning."
Abi Echano, managing director of Nspire, Inc., for her part said, the platform comes with e-textbooks, online grade books, and chatting programs for a more collaborative study environment.
"We have the content, that is our advantage, we provide the content, we provide trainings, among others," she said.
Larrosa added that Smart Digital Campus is PLDT's contribution to improving the local educational system as it permits ease and quality of information access between educators, students, and guardians.
"With a more streamlined and integrated way of learning, Smart Digital Campus pushes for more collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and productive communication within a learning community," Larrosa said.
