EXPECT a real-time and a more comprehensive coverage of the Sinulog festival in 2017, as media company VoxPop Publishing aims to stream all the activities live for Filipinos and tourists worldwide.
The live streaming will be made possible through VoxPop's partnership with the Sinulog Foundation, video and photo provider Needs and Solutions, Smart Communications, PLDT, and of course, the Basilica Minore del Sto. Niño.
Next year's coverage of the Sinulog aims to capture more audiences from different areas in the world, with more videos from the streets to be fed live during the grand parade on January 15.
"Our viewers can expect more live reporting on Sinulog on the VoxPop website and social accounts," said Nini Cabaero, editor in chief of VoxPop Network Exchange (Sunnex), the office that runs the VoxPop website and handles all the digital products of the media company.
"We plan to cover every festival event as it happens. This will bring our audience closer to the celebration," Cabaero said. "We're happy to have partners to help make our reporting immediate, engaging and interactive."
The live streaming will start on January 5, with the "Walk with Jesus" and first novena mass at the Sto. Nino church. Aside from the novena masses, which will end on January 13 with the "Walk with Mary," VoxPop will also stream live the following:
* Sinulog launching parade and launching program (January 6)
* Sinulog sa Kabataan and Barangay (January 7 and 8)
* Sinulog Idol (January 11)
* Sinulog Dance Crew and Festival Queen (January 13)
* Fluvial and Solemn Procession (January 14)
* Grand Parade (January 15)
* Awarding (January 16)
* Hubo (January 20)
The list of activities is shorter this time, as the Sinulog organizers have removed some events like the Miss Cebu 2017 and Handumanan, among others.
The streaming of those activities will be shown not just on VoxPop's website at www.voxpop.com.ph and its Sinulog microsite at http://cebu.voxpop.com.ph/sinulog, but also on Facebook.
