PDEA-Central Luzon chief, 30 other personnel relieved

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Luzon Director Juvenal Azurin and more than 30 other personnel of the agency were relieved from their respective posts recently.

This was confirmed by PDEA-Central Luzon Public Information Officer Glenn Guillermo in a text message sent to VoxPop Pampanga Wednesday, May 24.

Azurin was transferred to the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao. He was replaced by PDEA Special Enforcement Service Director Ismael Fajardo Jr., according to Guillermo.

The PDEA-Central Luzon executives and operatives, except from the administrative and technical personnel, were likewise replaced by personnel from the PDEA National Headquarters, Guillermo added.

Guillermo clarified that the sudden reshuffle was not solely due to the alleged “tanim droga” incident that transpired in Bacolor town, where several PDEA personnel were tagged.

He said that the decision was a prerogative of PDEA Director General Isidro Lapeña being the head of their organization.

Guillermo added that the move is also part of the internal cleansing of the PDEA in the light of the controversies thrown at them by some personalities.
