THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Zamboanga Peninsula has destroyed on Thursday, October 26, P230 million worth of illegal drugs and components seized in anti-illegal drug operations in the region.
PDEA Regional Director Lyndon Aspacio said the illegal drugs that were destroyed included four kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," 97 kilograms ephedrine, 388.601 grams of dried Marijuana leaves, and 16,800 grams of expired Aziridine.
The destruction of the illegal drugs were done by burning in a boiler of a canning factory in this city’s west coast.
Aziridine is a chemical that can be formed as a product of incomplete reaction of ephedrine to methamphetamine.
Aspacio said the illegal drugs that were destroyed were seized since 2014 in Zamboanga Peninsula and in the province of Sulu.
He said the destruction of the illegal drugs is in compliance with the Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
