PDEA tracking down known Impal associates

THE top official of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Northern Mindanao Tuesday, December 6, said the anti-narcotics agency in the region is tracking down the associates of Lovely Adam Impal.

Impal is the woman tagged by confessed drug dealer Kerwin Espinosa as a supplier of illegal drugs who yielded before the police authorities in Camp Crame Monday, December 5.

PDEA Regional Director Adrian Alvariño said Impal will possibly reveal her protectors during interrogation.

“May mga info na mayroon siyang mga protector pero dili man ta makahatag agad-agad pero may tinitingnan tayong mga personality (There are information about her protectors but we cannot immediately give the names, however, we have personalities under investigation),” Alvariño said.

Impal, a high value target in PDEA’s drugs watchlist, is said to own houses in cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro but Alvariño said the PDEA had found it difficult to trace and monitor the alleged drug queen who was shuttling between her many houses in different parts of the country.

Impal was not spotted in her suspected house in Cagayan de Oro but she was reportedly seen in her newly built house in Iligan City.

“Alam niya kasi mainit na siya kaya di na siya nakikita sa mga bahay niya (She knew that she was wanted that’s why she cannot be seen in the houses she owned),” Alvariño said.

Alvariño said they were expecting that Impal to surrender after returning to Lanao del Sur.

“Latest monitoring natin umakyat siya ng Marawi dahil nga nagtatago siya and as expected na mag-surrender siya (In our latest monitoring, she was in Marawi because she was hiding and we expected for her to surrender),” Alvariño added.

Alvarino said Impal has a romantic relationship with a police officer.

“Marami siyang ginagamit na pangalan (She used several names). Ang Impal was the first. Ang fourth is Rasuman, and based on validated report her latest the 6th or 7th na kinakasama niya (live-in partner) is a policeman,” Alvariño said.

Alvariño said the Lanao area is the most critical in terms of major players of illegal drugs trade.

He said big time suppliers of illegal drugs come from these areas and the PDEA needs concrete informant and evidences to successfully pin them down.

“Bumalik sa Region 10 (Northern Mindanao) and Armm (Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) ang malalaking players nong nagkainitan sa war on drugs na dati di naman sila nakikita dyan (The big players went back to Northern Mindanao and Armm during the war on drugs when before, they cannot be seen there),” Alvariño said.

Alvariño said big players either source ready to use illegal drugs through smuggling or from the local drug laboratories.

“Sa Lanao dyan nagkikita-kita at nag-uusap-usap ang mga major players (The major players mostly meet and talk in Lanao),” Alvariño said.

“Based on info na may mga contacts sila na Chinese personalities at may bodega din sa area natin (they have contacts of Chinese personalities and a warehouse in the area),” Alvariño added.
