THE induction of the incoming members of Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) in Negros Occidental has been rescheduled anew, this time to October 1.
Yves Akol, secretary-general of PDP-Laban in Negros Island Region, said there is a need to move the oath-taking rites because the national party leaders will not be available on September 17.
He said that House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez, party secretary-general, couldn’t make it on Saturday.
Akol said he will know the details on Thursday, when he meets with Alvarez, who will be in Dumaguete City for the induction of 500 party members in Negros Oriental.
He said that he already talked with Angel Verdeflor, secretary of United Negros Alliance (Unega) of Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., about the new schedule.
He added that they are also waiting for the governor, who is still in Japan, to confirm the schedule.
Akol said that Senate President Aquilino Pimentel III, party president, is also expected to grace the event.
“We’re coordinating with his staff for his schedule,” he added.
Akol said it’s not yet confirmed if President Rodrigo Duterte, party chairman, could make it to the induction rites.
“The president has many priorities. Our nation has many problems. But we’re still open, hoping and praying that he could come,” he added.
Marañon will lead the 94 officials, including board members, mayors, vice mayors, and councilors, who will take their oaths as members of the administration party.
