THE summer season is here and everyone is becoming busier planning out where to spend it. But definitely, included in the list are the country's top tourist destinations.
There is more to visit in the country today. Check it online and you'll find lots of tour packages being offered -- really affordable in a bid to make every Filipino the chance to travel and visit these scenic destinations.
But reservations should have been made earlier.
Lucky are those who have earlier booked their plane tickets or happened to avail of the promo fares earlier offered by the country's airline companies. For sure, travel during the peak summer season for those who have earlier reservations is not a problem compared to those who have just planned out their vacation at this time when airfares zoomed to one of its highest.
For those who are planning a summer vacation on a limited budget, there are also a lot of places to explore in Mindanao. There's the mystical islands and beautiful beaches of Surigao provinces, the mountain resorts in Bukidnon, Lake Sebu in South Cotabato, and Davao Region's From Highlands to Islands adventure.
But knowing most Filipinos, especially the young generation of today, they really love to travel, even if it means emptying their pockets.
In fact, the country's leading carrier, Cebu Pacific earlier reported that in 2016, it flew a total of 19.1 million passengers, up by 4.1 percent as against the previous year's 18.4 million.
This means an increase in the airline's income by 9.2 percent to P46.6 billion from passenger revenues alone.
In all, Cebu Pacific posted a net income of P9.8 billion in 2016, up 122 percent year-on-year, on the back of the strong demand for low-cost air travel and robust growth in ancillary revenues, which include baggage fees, on-board meals and merchandise.
"2016 was a great year for CEB as we continue to enable every Juan to fly to more destinations around the Philippines and to key destinations in Asia, the Middle East, Australia and the US. CEB remains committed to further increase inter-island connectivity within the Philippines to promote trade and tourism and help more people connect with their families and friends all around the world, while consistently providing our trademark best value fares," lawyer JR Mantaring, vice president for corporate affairs of Cebu Pacific, said.
