OWNERS of expired firearms are asked by the Philippine National Police (PNP) to avail themselves of the provisional license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF).
The offer, however, is only for gun owners whose respective expired licenses were issued before the effectivity of Republic Act 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation, which was signed into law on May 29, 2013.
The offer started on August 15, 2017 and it will end on November 31, 2017.
Police Superintendent Allan Servida, the Regional Civil Security Unit-Central Visayas chief, said the provisional LTOPF is only a one-time offer. It is also intended for firearms renewal and/or transfer.
He said the provisional LTOPF is valid for nine months. Gun owners can apply for it at the Firearms and Explosive Office (FEO) or Regional Civil Securiy Units in Police Regional Offices.
Requirements are accomplished application form, any govern-issued identification card or proof of billing indicating the complete address of the applicant, and payment of P500 at any Land Bank of the Philippines, including its Electronic Payment Portal or Philippine National Police Finance Service Office nationwide. There is no need for reference number, just indicate that it is for provsional LTOPF.
