THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) confiscated a total of 135 colorum (unregistered) tricycles from March 2 until Monday, March 6, said spokesperson Superintendent Noel Polines.
He said most of the tricycles were impounded in the areas of Police Station 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, and 10.
Polines said they are monitoring the accomplishments of all police stations in their campaign against colorum tricycles.
The Police Station 1 alone seized more than 50 colorum tricycles from Friday until Monday morning.
Senior Inspector Eugene Tolentino, chief of Police Station 1, said Monday that drivers of colorum tricycles committed violations like no official documents and no driver licenses.
The tricycles were turned over to the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) for proper custody, he added.
Some of the impounded tricycles were released to the owners upon payment of fines.
Tolentino said the apprehended drivers were usually “strikers” at the downtown area and those from Barangays Villamonte and Sum-ag.
The intensified operation came after the reported robbery and rape committed by a colorum tricycle driver and his companion against a 26-year-old female call center agent at Barangay Alijis last week.
