POLICE said Monday that they arrested an Indonesian-Malay national and his Filipino companion suspected of planning a terror attack in a condo mall in Quezon City.
Suspects Indonesian-Malay Mohammad Amin, alias Amin Aklam; and Filipino Adnan Malangkis, alias Abdul, were captured in their rented apartment in Barangay Culiat, Quezon, following a tip from a concerned citizen.
Amin, who has been accused of kidnapping and frustrated murder in Jolo, Sulu, has a P600,000 bounty on his head.
Chief Inspector Roque Merdeguia, chief of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Anti-transnational Crime Unit (CIDG-ATCU), said a blueprint of a condo-mall in Quezon City was found in the suspects' possession, raising suspicion that the duo are planning a terror attack in the said establishment.
"Nakikipag-ugnayan na rin tayo sa intelligence community kung meron ba itong naturuan kung paano gumawa ng bomba...at kung ano ang kanyang misyon dito sa Metro Manila," Merdeguia said, referring to Amin who has alleged link to the terrorist Abu Sayyaf Group.
Merdeguia said Amin, who is a trained bomber, is among the most wanted personalities of the Department of National Defense and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
Aside from the blueprint, recovered from the suspects' possession were a fragmentation grenade, ammunition for 9mm pistol, and cable wires.
Amin and his companion are facing charges of using fictitious names for concealing their true names and illegal possession of ammunition and explosives. (Sunnex)
