THE Bago City Police Station in Negros Occidental is eyeing two angles behind the shooting of village chief Federico Gayagas Jr. of Bacong Montilla.
Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue, city deputy police chief, said there is a possibility that the incident was due to politics or something personal.
Before the incident, Gayagas received a call from an unknown person and after he ended the call, five armed men then entered his cock farm.
Trigue said they already have persons of interest.
“Three of the five perpetrators were reportedly identified by Gayagas,” he added.
Trigue dismissed reports that Gayagas was attacked by suspected rebels.
Last Sunday, July 2, Gayagas, along with his two male helpers, was inside his cock farm, 20 meters away from his house when two assailants fired at him.
The gunmen then escaped on foot together with three others, who served as lookouts.
Policemen recovered four fired bullets of a carbine rifle and a bullet shell of a shotgun.
Gayagas is still confined at a private hospital in Bacolod City.
In September last year, Gayagas was involved in a police shootout at Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, that claimed the life of his cousin Rodolfo Gayagas Jr. and also injured him and John Abong.
The operation that yielded illegal drugs and firearms, ammunition and grenade also led to the arrest of drug suspect Jaime Benares, and Samson Gonzaga, and Reynante Firmias.
