AN OFFICIAL of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) over the weekend said there is no reported security threats for the city's fiesta celebration on Monday, August 28.
"Walay threat pero dili ta gihapon gakumpyansa. Maong daghan ta gibawal during sa mga activities kay aron masiguro nato ang seguridad sa katawhan (There’s no threat but we must not be complacent. That’s why we have many restrictions during the activities to ensure the safety of the public)," Chief Inspector Mardy Hortillosa II, Cocpo spokesperson, said.
Hortillosa said the festive street and float parade on Sunday, August 27, was made peaceful and successful because of the cooperation of the community.
The "Higalaay street parade and floats," which started 7:00 a.m. and ran for almost five hours, was witnessed by roughly 20,000 to 30,000 crowd.
The parade started from Rodelsa Ciricle, passing Velez street, C.M. Recto avenue and ended at Limketkai Center.
Safety, security, and peace and order were ensured by the joint forces of the police, Task Force Oro, Field Training Program personnel and Field Training Officer, augmentation from the Regional Public Safety Battalion and other groups who served as force multipliers.
"We should remain security conscious and be cooperative with the authorities always to maintain peace and order," Hortillosa said.
