THE chief of the Northern Mindanao police has ordered all city and provincial police offices to be on full alert for the observance of the All Saints and All Souls Day on November 1 and 2, respectively.
Chief Superintendent Timoteo Pacleb, regional director of Police Regional Office (PRO)-Northern Mindanao, said all police personnel should be on full alert status starting October 31.
Pacleb also directed all lower units to deploy more policemen to intensify target hardening and security measures, intelligence and counter-intelligence operations, public safety plans to ensure a secured, safe and orderly observance of the All Saints and All Souls day.
"As what PRO-10 (Northern Mindanao) always implemented during holidays and special events, the entire region will be placed on full alert status to provide security coverage and public safety services. Police operations will be intensified to monitor the plans and activities of criminal elements and other threat groups," Pacleb said.
The PRO-Northern Mindanao has assured to deploy sufficient number of policemen in private and public cemeteries.
Police said the deployment includes road safety marshalls in strategic areas along the routes to and from the cemeteries and other major thoroughfares.
Pacleb also ordered all provincial and city police directors to supervise their respective personnel.
"More personnel will also be deployed for police presence in all places of convergence like bus terminals, airports, seaports, churches and places of worship, tourist destination and all vital installations," Pacleb said.
A Police Assistance Center (PAC) will be installed in different cemeteries to serve and assist the public who will visit the graves of their departed loved ones.
Pacleb also ordered the policemen on the ground to strictly monitor the banned items such as the bladed weapons, flammable items, liquors, loud speakers and gaming cards inside the cemeteries to preserve solemnity and peace in the place.
The community is advised to be alert and vigilant against any suspicious persons and activities and urged those who will travel to provinces to secure their homes.
Police stations has also come up with an innovative crime prevention campaign strategy through social media where the public is enjoined for safety and security consciousness.
"Security awareness of community is vital to deter crimes," Pacleb said.
