THE Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) has been ordered to intensify police visibility in a bid to curb incidents of snatching in the city proper.
The order was issued by Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar in response to complaints from the public about the rampant cases of snatching.
Salazar said the increasing incidents of snatching in the central business district has to be stopped and prevented to ensure the safety and security of the people.
She said police presence and visibility will deter the commission of crimes in the streets particularly snatching and other forms of theft in downtown area.
As this developed, Superintendent Ariston Limos, Police Station 11 chief, have launched Operations Plant (Oplan) Privini Robo (prevent robbery) with focused in the city proper.
As a result, Limos reported that three well-known snatchers--all of them minors, were arrested during the operation. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
