THE Murcia Municipal Police Station in Negros Occidental continues to investigate the deaths of a Salvador Benedicto town councilor and two others last Friday.
Senior Inspector Ronald Santillan, town police chief, said Sunday, September 17, they have no persons of interest as of the moment and are still focusing on the identification of the perpetrators.
Santillan added that they are still eyeing the same two angles, love triangle and revenge, but they are also not disregarding the possibility that the incident might be related to the councilor's as a town official.
On September 15, Councilor Eden Bacordo, 39, his partner Leah Mae Saldoa, 29, and his bodyguard Arnold Larida, 38, all residents of Salvador Benedicto town were gunned down by six unidentified armed men at Purok Lilo in Barangay Lopez Jaena of the neighboring Murcia town.
The three died on the spot while the assailants escaped on foot.
Police recovered from the scene were 34 fired bullets of M16 and garand long firearm, two clips, and three live ammunition of garand long firearm.
A day before the incident, Bacordo and Larida attended a court hearing on the murder case they facing before a court in Bacolod City.
Both were suspects in the killing of Charlie Buli-Buli, 35, of Barangay Bago, Salvador Benedicto, a commander of Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade, last July 8.
After the court hearing, they decided to go to Murcia town, where a relative of Saldoa was staying.
Santillan said Bacordo had been receiving threats before but they are not sure if it was related to his personal life or other matters.
