INVESTIGATORS of the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) are looking into the possibility that the murder of San Fernando, Cebu Councilor Alexander Alicaway was related to his work as a public servant.
Senior Superintendent Edgar Alan Okubo, CPPO director, said on Thursday morning, March 15, that they have leads on the ambush-slay.
"Baka may nasasagasaan. Isa yan sa titingnan natin," he said.
Alicaway, 49, was walking on Wednesday afternoon, March 14, toward San Fernando Municipal Hall when two men on board a motorcycle shot him in the head.
The public official came from his store in the public market before the attack happened around 5 p.m. in Barangay South Poblacion.
The culprits, who wore bonnets and full-face helmets, stole Alicaway's necklace and cell phone.
Okubo said the assailants stole the cell phone, as it may have contained information that could lead to the mastermind's identity.
He said he will order the personnel of San Fernando Police Station, which is near the crime scene, to investigate the incident. (KAL/VoxPop Cebu)
