AUTHORITIES recovered P10-million worth of illegal drugs from the house of a former Marawi City mayor following their clearing operation in the city on Friday, June 23.
About two kilograms of crystal meth, locally known as shabu, were seized from the house of former Marawi City mayor Omar Solitario Ali, who was tagged by President Rodrigo Duterte last year as one of the local government officials involved in the illegal drug trade.
Ali is also included in the list of 125 alleged Maute members ordered to be arrested by the government.
The seized illegal drugs is among the items recovered by government troopers in Marawi City, which is still under siege since May 23, when Maute terror group entered the city to defend international terrorist Isnilon Hapilon, the purported leader of the Islamic State's Southeast Asia branch who was the subject of an arrest warrant by government authorities.
On Monday, June 19, government troops seized 11 kilos of shabu, several high-powered firearms, and an Isis flag inside a dismantled hideout of the Maute terrorists in Marawi City.
Last June 5, Philippine Marines also discovered P79 million in cash and checks in a house that served as the Maute group's machine gun outpost. (VoxPop Philippines)
