OF THE 10 police stations in Bacolod City, Police Station 8 has the highest number of robbery cases in the first half of 2017.
Data provided to VoxPop Bacolod by Superintendent Noel Polines, head of operations branch of Bacolod City Police Office, on Thursday, July 13, showed that Police Station 8 has recorded 23 robbery incidents from January to June this year.
The police station covers the areas of Barangays Singcang-Airport, Tangub, and Pahanocoy.
Data also showed that Police Station 1 has 22 robbery cases; Police Station 2, 15; Police Station 7, 11; Police Station 6, 10; Police Station 4, nine; Police Station 3, five; Police Station 5, four; Police Station 9, two; and Police Station 10, one.
Despite having the highest number of robbery cases, Polines said the crime solution and efficiency of Police Station 8 is also high, which means its personnel are making efforts to solve such incidents.
Police Station 8 Chief Wilfredo Benoman Jr. said they are trying to solve the cases as much as they can.
He added that they are also intensifying visibility patrols especially in residential areas, where robbery cases mostly occur.
Moreover, Polines said most of the robbery incidents happened during night time and early morning, based on their crime clock.
He said the police conduct visibility patrol operations during those hours, but they cannot cover all areas because they lack personnel and they only have one vehicle.
Polines asked the cooperation of barangay officials and homeowners in residential subdivisions to create security teams that can help the police in the anti-criminality campaign.
With the help of barangay tanods, people entering the villages will be monitored to avoid occurrence of crimes, he said.
They can also aid the police in mobile patrols, Polines added.
