THE Police Station 8 in Bacolod City has tapped the village officials in its coverage area to help the police in the campaign against criminality.
Senior Inspector Wilfredo Benoman Jr., chief of Police Station 8, said Thursday, August 24, he met with the village officials on Wednesday and discussed with them preventive measures to avoid robbery incidents in the areas of villages Singcang-Airport, Tangub, and Pahanocoy.
Having the highest number of robbery cases among the city’s 10 police stations in the first half with 23, Benoman said he reiterated the need for close coordination between the village watchmen and the police for more intensified visibility patrols.
He added that as the police continue to intensify mobile patrol and checkpoint operation, the village officials must advise their watchmen to strengthen their “barangay ronda patrol” especially in areas that police cannot reach due to limited resources.
Benoman also said the community should also do their part through the timely reporting of incidents and of suspicious persons in the area.
“We are doing our best to stop criminality but we need the support of the community,” he added.
Data obtained by VoxPop Bacolod in July also showed that Police Station 1 has 22 robbery cases; Police Station 2, 15; Police Station 7, 11; Police Station 6, 10; Police Station 4, nine; Police Station 3, five; Police Station 5, four; Police Station 9, two; and Police Station 10, one.
