PORAC — Porac officials here are seeking funds amounting to P150 million for the construction of the vital road leading to Miyamit Falls.
The request was made through Undersecretary for Ecotourism, Farm Tourism and Faith Tourism Advocacy Silvino Q. Tejada, who visited Porac over the weekend.
The official was asked to help Porac realize its tourism potential by helping it construct the road that will open to potential tourism destinations, most specially Miyamit falls, the province’s last remaining high waterfall.
It could be remembered that in 2011, top government officials led 56 individuals who explored the new 22-kilometer route that gives Pampanga access to the famous Mt. Pinatubo crater.
Congresswoman Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Governor Lilia Pineda led the opening of a new route to Miyamit Falls, Mt. Pinatubo, and the Porac Highlands. The new route is a 22-kilometer dirt road that spans across barangays Sapang Uwak, Villa Maria and Inararo.
The road crosses ridges and lies on top of steep mountain ranges in what could be an ambitious engineering accomplishment. It ends at a camping site on top of a hill that provides a view of Zambales and Tarlac. Mt. Pinatubo would only be a two-hour hike from the drop-off point.
The officials added that the vital road will greatly position Porac as an ecotourism destination.
