NORTHERN Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) has nine gold medals already in the bag as of 10 a.m., Thursday, April 27, mainly thanks to the strong showing of its taekwondo team in the ongoing Palarong Pambansa in Antique, Panay island.
Veteran campaigner Michael Porras starred in NMRAA's medal hunt as he collected three golds all by himself to establish a record-breaking feat in taekwondo.
Porras needs just one more gold in secondary’s bantamweight category to officially become a Palaro record holder.
"Kung modaug siya’s usa pa, record holder na si Porras," said Jerome Bacud, who represented Bombo Radyo Cagayan de Oro on his broadcast Palaro coverage.
Aside from Porras, the NMRAA taekwondo team bagged three more golds from the strong efforts of Johari Maunting, Charice Esclamado and first-timer Elisha Kyle Canios.
The NMRAA can jack up for more gold winnings in 15 weight categories contested yesterday in taekwondo competition.
"Dako ang chance sa NMRAA nga manghakot gikan tanan sa taekwondo," Bombo Jerome, said.
