THE Negros Occidental Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) has allocated P3.5 million for rebels who will surrender and will turn over their firearms and explosives.
Negros Occidental Third District Board Member David Lacson, chairman of Provincial Board committee on peace and order, said Friday, March 23, that rebels who will surrender their firearms will receive a certain amount, based on the type of firearm they will turn over to the authorities.
The PPOC recently held a meeting at the Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City.
Lacson said they decided to allocate a budget after he was informed that there are rebels who sent surrender feelers to the Philippine Army.
He also said that the provincial government through Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. also provides livelihood programs for rebel returnees.
Lacson assured that government troops are still in control of the insurgency situation in the province. (GYM)
