MANILA (Updated) -- The bomb threat at the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) in Manila on Friday, May 12, was a hoax, said police.
A security guard said that someone called in saying a bomb was supposed to explode inside the PRC building located in Sampaloc, Manila.
However, after a thorough search, no bomb was found.
Superintendent Aquino Olivar, Sampaloc police chief, said the building was cleared from any bomb before 2 p.m.
"Actually 'yung bomb threat chismis lang daw sabi nung security guard ng Eastwest Bank na malapit. Narinig lang n'ya tapos sinabi n'ya sa security guard ng PRC, na imbis na sabihin magreport, sinabi lang n'ya sa mga empleyado ng PRC na nag-cause ng alarm," he said.
Olivar said it was the PRC chairman Teofilo Pilando Jr. who reported the bomb threat to the Manila Police District after one of PRC's security personnel reported to him the anonymous call.
Employees and people who had transactions with the PRC were evacuated from the building as an explosive and ordnance team conducted search operation.
At 1 p.m., employees were ordered to go home after officials declared a half-day at the PRC. Regular work will resume on Monday, May 15. (VoxPop Philippines)
