CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- More than a week before November 1, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in Central Luzon reported no increase in the price of candles around the region.

According to DTI-Central Luzon Information Officer Warren Serrano, the suggested retail prices (SRP) of wax candles are still stable since August up to October 23.

He disclosed that prices of Liwanag brand candles range from P36 to P136.50 while Manila Wax Sperma candles range from P40.50 to P56.

He added that Max Wax Motive has a price range of P51 to P71; 5 Star Sperma at P27.50 to P115; Export brand candles at P29.75 to 99.75 and P44.75 to P69.75

Serrano pointed at the availability of electronic candles in the market nowadays which greatly affects the prices of candles, especially during this season.

"Based sa nakaraang taon, usually hindi na magtataas 'yan. Lalo na may electronic candles na ngayon na ginagamit na lang ulit ng mga pamilya," he said.

He added that the DTI will be closely monitoring supermarkets and wet markets who might take advantage of All Saints' and All Souls' Day and overtop the SRP released by the agency.

He said that violating stores or supermarkets will be apprehended and sanctioned properly.
