POLICE Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas Director Noli Taliño will be replaced by Chief Superintendent Jose Mario Espino from the Civil Security Group -Supervisory Office for Security and Investigative Agencies in Camp Crame on July 17.

Taliño assumed as director of PRO-Central Visayas last July, replacing Chief Superintendent Patrocinio Comendador Jr.

Taliño will move to a -star general position in Camp Crame as part of the directorial staff for Human Resource and Doctrine Development.

The order was approved by President Rodrigo Duterte and Police Chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa last Friday.

Taliño expressed his gratitude to his men on the ground for their effort in the war against drugs and criminality.

"They were the ones who did the nitty gritty of the job and they were responsive to the guidance," he said.

During his stint at PRO-Central Visayas, Taliño said that index crime fell by 27 percent in the region.

He said he hopes Espino will continue the intensified campaign against illegal drugs and the internal cleansing within the ranks.

"It was a challenge in cleansing our ranks during the implementation as well as the operations against those involved in illegal drugs because initially we didn't expect that the drug affectation in Central Visayas was that high," he said.

A turnover of command will be held on July 17 at the PRO-Central Visayas headquarters. (JOB/VoxPop Cebu)
