THE Police Regional Office 7 director has ordered an investigation on a police officer who allegedly hurt detainees of Barili Police Station.
Chief Supt. Noli Taliño has directed the Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) to look into the incident involving the officer, who was reportedly drunk and aimed his gun at a detainee.
“Hindi puwede palampasin yan kasi itong ginawa niya ay pang-aabuso (We cannot let this pass because what he did was an abuse),” he told reporters. “Delikado yan. Yang baril na yan ay parang demonyo yan (It was dangerous. A gun is like a demon).”
Taliño also ordered an inquiry on another police officer who is reportedly protecting a drug pusher based in Barangay Pasil, Cebu City.
The policeman, a non-commissioned officer, was mentioned by President Rodrigo Duterte as one of the drug protectors in the city. He is now in Camp Crame, facing an investigation.
Sun.Star Cebu is withholding the names of the police officers, pending their comments.
Taliño said the confession of suspected drug pusher Edna Flores confirmed that the officer is a protector.
“Nagkakaroon tayo ng (We are having an) internal cleansing. Definitely, may resulta yan (it will have results),” he told reporters yesterday.
In the incident involving detainees in Barili, the complainant told radio dyHP that her relative was hit in the head by the policeman, who holds the rank of Police Officer 2.
The officer was reportedly drunk and he hurt the detainees for no apparent reason.
Supt. Brindo Nacario, CPPO information officer, said the complainant must file an affidavit before the investigation unit.
Investigators will also get the statement of the accused police officer.
