CHIEF Superintendent Renato Gumban, acting director of Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR), will retire from the police service on May 21.
Senior Superintendent Moises Villaceran, head of Police Community Relations of PRO-NIR, said Wednesday, May 3 that retirement honors and turn-over ceremony to be led by Director General Ronald de la Rosa, chief of Philippine National Police (PNP), will be held on May 19 at the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City.
The PNP mandatory retirement age is 56.
Gumban is the second PRO-NIR director to retire after Chief Superintendent Conrado Capa, who also retired in August 2016 after serving as the first director of PRO-NIR, which was organized in November 2015.
Villaceran said there is no official list yet of Gumban’s possible successor.
Still, reports mentioned Chief Superintendents Edwin Jose Nemenzo, Edmundo Gonzales and Bartolome Tobias.
The Senior Officer Promotion and Placement Board (SOPPB) has yet to submit the list of police officials who are qualified for the position, Villaceran said.
The three police officials mentioned above are qualified, he added.
The SOPPB will evaluate and assess applicants or anyone who is fit for the position.
While there is no PRO-NIR director yet, Chief Superintendent Leonardo Cesneros, deputy regional director for administration, will be designated as officer-in-charge, Villaceran said.
