LOCAL authorities will destroy seized items to include assorted open-pipe motorcycle mufflers, video carera machines, and firecrackers in a public ceremony on Monday, January 8.
The destruction of the seized items and firecrackers will be held after Monday’s flag raising ceremony in front of Zamboanga City Hall.
Local police record showed that there are 1,200 mufflers, including the video carera machines, to be destroyed which were confiscated in various operations.
The confiscations were done on the basis of national and local laws the past months.
The firecrackers, on the other hand, were seized from street vendors in simultaneous crackdowns by different police units during the holiday season.
Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar and Senior Superintendent Vincent Neri Ignacio will spearhead the public ceremony to manifest the government’s commitment to the campaign against open pipe mufflers, illegal video carera machines and firecrackers and pyrotechnics which are prohibited under Ordinance 431.
They will be joined by other city and police officials during the public destruction of the confiscated items. (Bong Garcia/VoxPop Philippines)
