PERSONS with disabilities (PWDs) and Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing (IT-BPO) concerned personalities are invited to a public consultation for their concerns on February 6, starting at 8:30 a.m. up to the afternoon at the multi-purpose hall, City Hall.

Participants are advised to come early, as the meeting terminates when substantive issues have been thoroughly discussed.

Conducted through the initiative of the chair on the committee on employment, livelihood and cooperatives and PWD Councilor Art Allad-iw, the forum is focused on Baguio IT-BPO employees’ rights, welfare and safety, and PWDs’ legislative action/consultations assessment.

The public hearing’s aim is to aid the council committee in crafting quality legislation to benefit persons with disabilities, to closely look at PWDs business interests and employees’ rights; and ensure full participation during the PWDs general assembly.

Inputs, recommendations and suggestions for the anticipated establishment and needed personnel for the Office of PWDs Affairs shall also be tackled.

To be discussed also are employment matters with alleged illegal policies and practices of IT-BPOs in the city. Inputs, suggestions, recommendations and comments as to the proposed ordinance; (PO-0153-17) protecting the rights, welfare and safety of employees in the IT-BPO sector, is also on the day’s agenda.

All interested individuals and concerned groups are enjoined to be at the venue on said date. (Julie G. Fianza)
