CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Provincial Government earned P36 million from quarrying operations in March this year.
Records of the Kapampangan a Lulugud at Matapat (Kalam) said this is the "highest collection" in the history of the quarry industry in the province.
Provincial Administrator Andres Pangilinan, Jr. said the increase in collection is due to the high demand of quarry materials used in government infrastructure projects and the rise of big malls and other business establishments not only in Central Luzon but also in the National Capital Region.
It can be noted that the suspension of the collection of the weighing fees per truckload since December last year did not affect the daily quarry collection as the Provincial Government closely monitored and controlled the issuance of gratuitous permits issued to local government units for its respective infrastructure projects.
Since the assumption to office of Governor Lilia Pineda in July 2010 to this date, the total quarry revenues reached a total of P2.093 billion. (PR)
