FORMER Bureau of Corrections (Bucor) officer-in-charge Rafael Ragos will be detained at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the order of the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court branch 204 said.
"Wherefore, accused Rafael Ragos is ordered committed to the detention facility of the National Bureau of Investigation, under the supervision and control of the Security Management Section, NBI, Taft Avenue Manila," the commitment order issued by Judge Juanita Guerrero on Monday read.
Ragos, accused of benefiting in the illegal drug trade in the New Bilbid Prison (NBP) along with former justice secretary Leila De Lima, had surrendered to the NBI on Sunday morning following the court's issuance of a warrant of arrest against him, De Lima and Ronnie Dayan on February 23.
The order came following judge Guerrero's grant of the motion of Ragos to be detained at the NBI detention facility citing security reasons.
The NBI has likewise filed the same motion with the court.
According to NBI spokesperson Ferdinand Lavin, Ragos–who was also a former Deputy Director of the NBI–will be more secured inside the NBI's premises.
In the congress hearing last September, Ragos said he personally delivered to De Lima millions of pesos when she was still justice secretary. (VoxPop Philippines)
