THE Climaco Freedom Park in Mount Abong-Abong will continue to undergo rehabilitation and improvement later this year.

Zamboanga City Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar said the Phase II of the rehabilitation project for the Freedom Park will commence after the second quarter of 2017.

Salazar said the rehabilitation project covers the development of the Freedom Park, particularly the construction and improvement of facilities like paving, slope protection, and fencing and railings for the safety and security of the community.

The Phase II of the rehabilitation project is a P9 million undertaking which covers the improvement of the 14 Stations of the Cross, the construction of gate and fencing, and railings and peak improvement.

A separate budget of P1 million is set for the rehabilitation work on the viewing deck at Cruz Mayor.

Salazar earlier turned over the completed projects under Phase I prior to the observance of the 2017 Holy Week.

Around 85,000 devotees flocked to the Freedom Park during this year’s Holy Week observance. (VoxPop Philippines)
