THE local authorities distributed relief goods to around 200 affected and displaced individuals following the burning of Lapanday Food Corporation properties last Saturday, April 29 in Barangay Mandug, Davao City.
Police Chief Inspector Milgrace Driz, Buhangin Police Station Commander, told reporters on Monday, May 1, that a joint effort of the law enforcement agencies initiated a relief operations to at least help the employees of the company who lost their jobs in the aftermath of the terror attack perpetrated by the New People's Army (NPA).
The relief goods contain rice, canned goods and food packs, among others.
Among the security forces who participated are Task Force Davao (TFD), Philippine Army, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and Buhangin Police Station.
"We've forged effort with the local security forces to help our brothers wherein around 200 persons or 1000 member of the family were affected," she said.
Driz urged the communist rebels to step up a good fight in a legal and proper way against the company and not through harassment or violence that will inflict the lives of many civilians.
"We are both giving service to the public why not let's collaborate our efforts and help the country to alleviate the lives of the people," she said.
Driz added that the recent incident was a big loss on the part of Barangay Mandug because the multi-million company generates employment to the residents.
While talking to some of the victims, Driz said that some of them were worried because enrollment period draws near and still they have no employment or means of income to support their children and buy their school supplies.
There is an augmentation on the part of the police personnel as the Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB) and the City Public Safety Company has additional forces to be deployed in the areas to ensure the peace and order and prevent the same occurrence of attack although it is already under controlled, Driz said.
