THE alleged leader of the syndicate behind "rent-tangay" scheme has submitted her reply affidavit on Friday's preliminary investigation of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
Rafaela Anunciacion is facing large scale estafa complaints filed against her by the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) and victims of the scheme from Bulacan, Laguna, Angeles, Batangas and Nueva Ecija.
Tychicus Nambio, also alleged to be a leader of the syndicate, was present but failed to submit his counter-affidavit with the DOJ.
Nambio said the subpoena issued by the DOJ did not reach him.
The panel of prosecutors has scheduled the next hearing on April 10.
Counter affidavits by other respondents, including Nambio, as well as the supplemental complaints to be filed by the complainants will be submitted on the said date.
Aside from the large scale estafa complaints, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) last Wednesday filed syndicated estafa and carnapping complaints against Anunciacion, Anastacia Cauyan, Eliseo Cortez, Sabina Torrea, Bienvenido Cruz and Marilou Vera Cruz.
Nambio was not included in the NBI's charge sheet.
According to the complaint-affidavit filed by the NBI, Anunciacion and her group conspired and used the car rental business to commit the crime charged to them.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II in an earlier interview said that the NBI's complaint will be consolidated with the previous complaint filed by the first batch of complainants led by the PNP-HPG. (VoxPop Philippines)
