THE Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) will implement a traffic re-routing for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2, respectively.
Superintendent Luisito Acebuche, head of BTAO, said Monday, October 30, there will be a road closure at the Burgos Public Cemetery and along Rolling Hills Memorial Park as thousands of people are expected to flock to the cemeteries.
He said that in Burgos Public Cemetery, all vehicles going east will pass Burgos Street and make a right turn to BBB Street going to Galo Street and Lopez Jaena Street and turn right to Malaspina Street going to Ylac Avenue.
All vehicles going west will also pass Ylac Avenue and make a left turn to Maso Street going to Malaspina Street and turn right going to Burgos Street.
Acebuche said that at Rolling Hills Memorial Park, a one-way traffic scheme will be implemented and all vehicles going west will pass Bangga Escala and take a left turn to C.L. Montelibano Avenue going to Circumferential Road.
Acebuche said they will implement the road closure starting 12 midnight of October 31.
BTAO will deploy a total of 250 traffic enforcers to various public and private cemeteries.
Acebuche said about 50 traffic enforcers will be deployed at Burgos Public Cemetery and another 50 to the areas along Rolling Hills Memorial Park.
He said 20 to 30 traffic enforcers will be deployed to Bacolod Memorial Park in Barangay Alijis and Rose Lawns Memorial Park in Barangay Bata. In other public cemeteries, 10 traffic enforcers will also be deployed.
Meanwhile, the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) will also deploy a total of 650 policemen to various areas.
Chief Inspector Lester Leada, deputy chief for operations of BCPO, said policemen will be deployed to the 12 public and private cemeteries as well as to various churches, malls, and public markets.
Leada said the BCPO also tapped the assistance of 623 force multipliers and volunteer groups in various villages.
“We will deploy our personnel Tuesday afternoon to secure the safety of our constituents,” he said.
He added that every police station will set put up a police assistance desk and a motorist assistance desk.
The police warned the public against bringing bladed weapons, illegal gambling cards, and intoxicating liquor inside the cemeteries.
Homeowners were also reminded not to leave their houses unattended to avoid untoward incidents.
Land Transportation Office (LTO)-Bacolod head Renato Novero said they will implement “Biyaheng Ayos” starting today, October 31, until November 2.
Novero said the LTO will detail personnel to terminals to ensure the roadworthiness of buses plying out of town.
“We will make sure that there will be no overloading like situations where passengers would risk sitting even on the roof of the buses because of the increase in the number of passengers,” he said.
Novero said there will no apprehension during the imposition of “Biyaheng Ayos” to avoid delays on the road.
“This is just an LTO visibility to make sure there is overloading and ensure the road worthiness of buses,” he added.
