A DAVAO City councilor plans to put up a mountain resort along Mt. Apo to attract tourists and encourage people to maintain cleanliness in the area.
During Tuesday's regular session at the City Council, committee on energy and committee on environment and national resources chair Councilor Diosdado Mahipus announced he will propose putting up a Mountain Resort at Mt. Apo while the 18th City Council gives due gratitude to the volunteers who helped put out the fire in the country's highest peak last March.
"It will be more of a conservative park," said Mahipus.
He added that he would like to have Darell Blatchley as a consultant for the project.
Blatchley, owner of D'Bone Collector Museum and a renowned environmentalist, was among the 33 men and women who helped in putting out the fire.
Blatchley, on the other hand, reminded that the officials need to limit the entry in the area since it is still recovering from the destruction brought about by the fire.
Thus, the councilor thought of hiring forest rangers to go about the area to check on people or other factors that may cause unpleasant events.ccc
