A RETIRED policeman and his driver were shot by two security guards at Bulata Pier Complex in Barangay Bulata, Cauayan, Negros Occidental Thursday afternoon.

Wounded were retired Senior Superintendent Inocentes Capuno, 58, of Fortune Town, Barangay Estefania, Bacolod City; and his driver Rey Mendoza, 27, of Cagdiana, Dinagat Island, Caraga Region.

Chief Inspector Gary Alan Resuma, town police chief, said the victims arrived at the area at 2:40 p.m.

Mendoza parked his vehicle while Capuno disembarked, then the two security guards fired at them using an alleged 12-gauge shotgun, when they insisted to enter the property.

Resuma said the court has issued a status quo order disallowing the removal of scrap materials inside the property, pending the final decision.

However, Capuno said they have a contract and insisted in going inside.

They were able to seek cover inside the vehicle, but Mendoza was hit in his stomach while Capuno sustained minor injuries.

Both victims were brought to a hospital.
