Road closure set for MassKara

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Traffic Management Unit (TMU) will implement a road closure at the downtown area during the 37th MassKara Festival from October 1 to 23.

Chief Inspector Ruel Culanag, head of TMU, said the closure at the downtown area will start from Rizal-Gatuslao Streets to Gonzaga-San Juan Streets from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. of the following day.

Another road closure will also be implemented at the Tourism Strip along Lacson Street during the two-day highlights of the festival from October 22 to 23.

The areas at the Tourism Strip, starting from Cottage Road to 25th street, will be closed from 3 p.m. to 4 a.m. of the following day.

Culanag said the road closure and rerouting during the MassKara street and arena dance competition on October 22 and 23 will vary based on the circumstance.

He added that they will have a dry run on September 29 and 30 to check the areas to be affected by the temporary rerouting.

Culanag said about 150 traffic enforcers and 50 traffic policemen will be deployed to the different festival sites.

Meanwhile, Chief Inspector Dianne Grace Catedral, public information officer of Police Regional Office (PRO)-18, said about 50 policemen from Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) and Regional Public Safety Battalion (RPSB)-18 will augment the BCPO personnel during the MassKara Festival.

The augmentation personnel will be deployed for the duration of the 23-day festival.
